Was Joseph Smith ever arrested or charged with crimes?
The Short Answer
Yes. He was hauled into court a lot — usually because the Church was growing fast and people didn't like it. Most cases ended in him being acquitted. The last time, in Carthage Jail, he was killed by a mob. He died testifying that what he taught was true.
